A New Junior High. Zero Rate Change.

We are building a safer, more modern environment for our students that fits capacity needs. This referendum ensures a high-quality future for future students at MSJH without changing your property tax rate.

The Proposal : A New Junior High. Zero Rate Change.

01

The Problem

The Junior High opened in 1961 for 615 students. It holds over 800 today. This forces many of our students to attend class in "portable classrooms" during their time at MSJH; a safety concern and... less than ideal learning environment.

In addition to issues & safety concerns relating to capacity, the cost to "improve" the building to modern standards is substaintial.

02

The Solution

On November 3, Mahomet-Seymour voters decide whether the District can build a new Junior High for $84 million to address overcrowding in the current aging Junior High. With debt retiring, the District tax rate would not increase.

A new Junior High for 900-1100 students, grades 6-8 on land the district already owns on the south side of South Mahomet Road, opening fall 2029.

"Shall the Board of Education of Mahomet-Seymour Community Unit School District Number 3, Champaign and Piatt Counties, Illinois, build and equip a new Junior High School Building, improve the site thereof, and issue bonds of said School District to the amount of $84,000,000 for the purpose of paying the costs thereof?"
